Biography
Sandy Allen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and her graduate degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University Northridge, graduating Cum Laude Honors. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and aware of the impact that culture has on an individual’s development and world view and how that intersects with our personal relationships.
She is certified as a perinatal mental health specialist, specializing with postpartum mothers and partners, helping couples to transition from couple-hood to family-hood, which is no easy task for most.
She holds basic training in EMDR. This qualifies her to aid individuals in overcoming childhood trauma and finding freedom from overwhelming trigger responses.
Lastly, she is Level 1 and Level 2 trained in the Gottman Method. This is an evidence-based therapeutic approach in couples counseling that focuses heavily on teaching couples the communication skills needed to increase relational understanding and connection.
She is welcoming, knowledgeable, and eager to help you and your family grow and thrive.
