Biography

Sandy Allen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist.  Early in her career development she worked with developmentally delayed children and their parents, first as a behavioral therapist, child development specialist, and then eventually working as a service coordinator with the North Los Angeles County Regional Center. She has worked with at risk youth as a therapist and as a trauma therapist with survivors of sexual abuse under the Valley Family Trauma Center. More recently she has worked as a psych-social worker for Kaiser Permanente addressing a range of clinical disorders with all populations and ages. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and her graduate degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University Northridge. 

She has a multifaceted approach based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Interventions, Family Systems Approach, and other client-centered approaches, ensuring that each client has identified treatment goals to help them obtain their desired change and progress. She is passionate about her work with families, parents, couples, and children alike. She has vast experience in working with Postpartum Depression and Anxiety and normal challenges that arise in the motherhood journey. She is currently working to obtain an EMDR certification to help individual reprocess recent or early childhood traumas. She operates off the premises that the therapeutic alliance is a source of healing, and psychotherapy is a much an art as it is a science.
